About Noteworthy News.

Noteworthy News is an independent publication covering breaking news, international affairs, and public safety. We follow consequential events with an interest in the people affected, the decisions that shaped them, and their broader significance. Our purpose is to give readers the information and context they need to understand these developments and form their own conclusions.

Our coverage and approach

Developing stories require careful judgment. An official statement establishes what an agency has said; an eyewitness account offers a particular perspective. Neither necessarily provides a complete explanation. Our editorial responsibility is to identify where information comes from, examine what it supports, and make clear what remains uncertain.

We link to source material so readers can examine the basis for our coverage. Original publication dates remain available as stories develop, and substantive errors receive visible corrections.

Our public safety coverage also includes automated updates from agency feeds, including earthquake information from the U.S. Geological Survey. Automated material is labeled and attributed to the originating agency, with links to the underlying information.

Education and public understanding

We believe understanding the news requires an ability to evaluate it. Our media literacy resources, fact-checking game, and geography challenge give readers opportunities to practice examining claims, assessing sources, and understanding the places behind the headlines.

This educational work reflects our broader interest in informed civic participation. Understanding how a claim is supported, what context is missing, and where to look for further evidence helps people participate more thoughtfully in discussions about public affairs.

Leadership and funding

Richard is a co-founder of Noteworthy News and the publication’s public editorial contact.

Noteworthy News is independently operated and supported by advertising, including Google AdSense. Our coverage is free to read. Advertising helps fund the publication’s operation, and advertisers have no authority to approve, suppress, or direct our coverage.
